2006 Industrial Fluid Properties Simulation Challenge

The Problem Sets

Three problem sets have been submitted for review by our panel of external modeling experts. They have also been posted on the IFPSC website for public comment. We welcome input from knowledgeable modeling practitioners and from our colleagues in other companies who have an interest in applying modeling methods within an industrial setting. Based on the comments we receive we will select and improve a subset of these for the 2006 contest.

The review period will last for one month: From February 1, 2006, to March 1, 2006. The final slate of problems, including details of the chemicals involved, will be announced on the first day of the the American Chemical Society National Meeting in Atlanta, March 26. They will also be posted on this site at that time. This will mark the start of the 2006 contest.

The problems in this, the third Industrial Fluid Properties Simulation Challenge (IFPSC) are focused on transferability. We challenge those that create and develop methods for property prediction in industry, academia, and the government laboratories to demonstrate the capabilities for their methods to predict properties for materials, properties, and state points that differ from those used in the original parameterization or "learning set" of their models.
